Volunteer in the orphanage

This summer holiday, on August 4, my friend and I came to the orphanage to work as a volunteer. This is a special “project” that school gave us during the summer hiliday. Our task is to help the teachers take care of the children.

After discussing with my friend, we decided that I would tutor the children in their studies and she would take charge of their diet and safety. With the effort of my friend and me, we got along with the children happily for a whole day and we helped the teachers in the orphanage relieve the burden. I always actively answer the question that children did not understand, which was I did well. I brought laughter to the children, contributed to the community service. By the way, I have strengthened our sense of social responsibility.

However, when I taught a little girl, who was about seven years old, although I taught her many times, she still cannot do that problem. At that time, my pace became a little bit impatient that made her nervous and restless.

After this experience, my communication skill has been improved. I can communicate with children better and can know more about their inner world so that I can know what they exactly need and help them. Next time, I can do better by repeating it several times instead of being impatient when I communicated with others who could not get the meaning of me.
