Getting to know myself

April 13,2020

In my Career Life Education online course on April 13, I engaged in several activities designed by my Career Life Education teachers, which mainly consisted of several quizzes. All of those quizzes contributed to help me identify who I am, including my skills, interests, values, and my Focus Area which helped me making a suitable decision in my career life.

The first two activities I took part in were The Multiple Intelligence Quiz and Learning Style Quiz. According to the result of The Multiple Intelligence Quiz, Interpersonal intelligence and Logical-intelligence was my natural talent. Because of my Interpersonal intelligence, I can reflect on my strengths and identify my potential as a leader in my community, which often refers to my class. However, the result surprised me because I hadn’t realized that Logical-intelligence was my natural talent. I used to regard that a person like me who disliked math would not have Logical-intelligence however, I fit many of the characteristics of the options in the Logical-intelligence section, which means it was exactly my natural talent. This quiz gave me important information about myself like what my natural talent was as well as some information that I haven’t realized before by investigating my likes, dislikes, strengths, weakness, hinting which career I might fit in the future. In the future, I will continue to develop new abilities and strengths to help me meet new challenges. The result of Learning Style Quiz helped me identify my strongest learning styles, which was Visual learning style, roughly in line with my own predictions.

The third activity I engaged in was Personality Quiz, which was definitely meaningful. In this quiz, I was asked to do lots of multiple-choice questions on a website given by my teacher. Then it would give me a color that could stand for my characteristic. My color was gold, which meant that I’m organized, prepared, loyal, dependable, and caring. I would be suitable in some jobs that were very straightforward, having highly defined and detailed duties. I completely agree with the result. To be honest, this result didn’t surprise me, which meant it could be predicted by myself because I could identify my individual characteristics well. This quiz helped me determine my strongest traits everything about myself and gave me a rough direction of career choices.

The next two Activities were Interests and Matches and Works Values. One of them helped me determine the career field that would give me a choice to do what I enjoyed by helping me identify my interests, while the other activity allowed me to identify my work values, which was highly related to the sort of work environment I would in.

The last activity was about the Focus Area, which was consisted of two tasks. The first task was a job survey self-examination, which interested me most. It told me what career I might be interested in by investigating my interests and skills. According to the result, the career I could possibly be interested in is Biologists. The second task asked me to categorize each of the following careers into their respective focus area. To be honest, I made lots of mistakes even though I felt confident about my answers. However, I still thought it was helpful for me because it helped me get familiar with eight focus areas. Among these eight focused areas, the most interesting area I thought was Science and Applied Science because I’m good at biology and life science so that I had confidence I could have a good performance in this area. Besides, I wanted to make a contribution to human beings and the job related to this area can fulfill my ambition.

All of these meaningful activities gave me a chance to identify myself on my abilities, skills, strengths, and weakness comprehensively, helping me reflect on who I as a person so that I could make the realistic decision that suited me most of my career in the future.
