2020.2.22
On 22 February 2020 at 2’o clock p.m, I had an online presentation given by Joey’s mother in my career life education class. When I was listening to the presentation, I wanted to ask a question to Joey’s mother, however, I didn’t have the courage to ask in front of so many people online. Fortunately, at last, a student asked the same question that I want to ask, I got the answer. Next time, I can do better by asking questions bravely when I’m in trouble.
Joey’s mother was the director of the Amazon Web Service. In her impressive presentation, she shared some information with us about the IT industry, related to her job. I found the presentation was interesting because her mother told us her own story, and made a slide for us with some related images in it, which attracted me helped me understand. By the way, I’m interested in the IT industry, and to be honest, my dream job was to be a programmer.

Joey’s mother divided her presentation into three main points: the introduction of the IT industry, the basic structure of an IT company, including some main positions, and the requirement of the IT company recruits. Among these three parts, I liked the last parts most. According to the information given by Joey’s mother, if I wanted to enter an IT company to be a programmer in the future, I needed to pass the “Leadership Principle”, which mainly referred to have critical and creative thinking, insisting on the highest standard, had deep thought, and had strong execution. By the way, English must be excellent, which was the most basic requirement.
I think it’s necessary for me to understand the requirement of the IT company because this allows me to see the gap between myself and my dream career, guiding me where I need to improve. The competition in the IT industry is very fierce. I learned that I need to “stay hungry, stay foolish, stay focus”, constantly improving myself, enhancing my ability so that I will have the chance to get my dream job.
In the future, I will continue working hard on my studies and improving my English skills by speaking more in English and reading more English novels. What’s more, I will train my critical thinking by trying to keep my independent thinking and express my opinion bravely. In my spare time, I plan to read more programming books to learn more by myself.
